Physical Therapists in USA
Physical Therapists are in short supply in USA and practice in hospitals, outpatient clinics
and private offices that have specially equipped facilities. These jobs can be physically
demanding, because therapists may have to stoop, kneel, crouch, lift and stand for long
periods. In addition, physical therapists move heavy equipment and lift patients or help
them turn, stand, or walk. About 60 percent of physical therapists work is in the hospitals /
clinics and balance are employed in home health services.
Employment of healthcare sector is expected to grow by 30 percent from 2011 to 2018
at a pace much faster than the average for all occupations. Changes to restrictions on
reimbursement for physical therapy services by third-party payers will increase patient
access to services and thus increase demand. The increasing elderly population will drive
growth in the demand for physical therapy services
The Process
The entire process of qualifying for successful employment as a therapist is long,
convoluted and takes around 18 to 24 months. It involves getting credential evaluation,
passing TOFEL and NPTE examination before getting deployed for work in USA.

General Education Credits
All Indian candidates are generally short by 40 to 46 general credits for getting an
equivalent credential evaluation report from evaluating agency such as FCCPT. Some
candidates may also be short in a few professional credits due to deficiencies in their
syllabus. We assist, guide and provide learning material for undertaking this process. In
order to assist the candidates, free online classes are also conducted.
TOEFL
A score of 26 in spoken section and 89 as total is mandatory for being eligible to apply
for Visa screen. Candidates living in an environment where English is the first language
will have little problems. However, where English is the second language, assistance and
coaching would be required. If not taken seriously, this can be a major stumbling block. In
order to assist such candidates, we organize online TOEFEL classes
NPTE
NPTE exam can only be taken in USA. It is a tough examination as the question pattern
is different from what Indian students are accustomed to. The questions are mostly
practical application and involve understanding a process rather than learning it by rote
memory. We organize on line coaching to assist the candidates. Candidates have to
travel to US to take this exam. Company provides assistance in facilitating this process.
Acculturation
An acculturated candidate is an asset to the US based employer. It is even more
important as in most cases, therapists will be working without supervision. We organize
free coaching / sessions for acculturating our candidates. Also, on arrival in USA,
candidates are given a free orientation so that they can adjust to their new environment.
